Three core technologies of new energy vehicles—battery--
electric motor and electric control
BYD is the first automaker in the world to have full expertise and intellectual property in the three core technologies of EVs—batteries, electric motors and electronic controls. In 2018, BYD is on track to achieve a battery output capacity of 28 GWh per year, making it the world's leading manufacturer of power batteries.

BYD Dual-Mode Technology
In 2008, BYD launched the F3DM, the world's first plug-in hybrid compact sedan, bringing the first generation of BYD's Dual-Mode technology to the market. In 2013, the BYD Qin Sedan led NEV sales in China for 20 consecutive months following its launch. The model was also among the top three bestselling NEVs worldwide, beginning the market expansion of Dual-Mode technology.

-
Dual-Mode,Multiple-Drive
BYD is a pioneer in combining IC engines with electric motors to enable its vehicles to freely and intelligently switch between pure electric and hybrid modes. This technology provides vehicles with extraordinary power while maintaining their superior fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness.
-
Easy Charging
Vehicles can be charged in a variety of places, from household wall outlets to charging poles in public parking areas.
-
Environment-friendly and Energy Efficient
Vehicles can run solely on electricity when traveling short distances, and use fuel when traveling long distances. The vehicle's all-electric range meets most daily travel needs without generating any emissions.
-
Extraordinary Power
Dual-Mode technology dramatically increases the engine's power output and RPMs to a maximum power output of 371 kW and a maximum torque of 820 Nm, whereas a conventional 6.0 L engine has a maximum power output of 327 kW and a maximum torque of 600 Nm.
-
Low Running Costs
With the advanced Dual-Mode Technology, the BYD Qin Sedan uses only 1.6L of fuel per 100km (under MIIT test standards).
FoldBYD Bi-directional Charging/Discharging Technology
BYD's Bi-directional Charging/Discharging technology creates a connected electrical system in which electric vehicles can be connected to other EVs, to the power grid or even to electrical appliances, thus becoming parts of a network instead of standalone units. This transforms EVs from mere forms of transportation to actual mobile power stations that can be used in emergencies or disaster relief initiatives. With this breakthrough, BYD is advancing a new era in the efficient use of electricity.

During non-peak hours, vehicles can be charged from the grid at lower rates, and during peak hours, they can serve as mobile power stations to supply AC power to single or three-phase grids, optimizing their efficiency.
EVs can also be used in emergencies to charge other EVs that may have run out of power.
When disconnected from the grid, vehicles can serve as temporary power supplies for AC-powered home appliances on field trips or other outdoor activities.FoldFive-star Safety DNA
Vehicle safety is ingrained in BYD's DNA, allowing the company to venture into the field of new energy vehicles. Right after entering the automobile industry in 2003, BYD established a vehicle testing center in Shanghai. In 2010, the company invested RMB 1.3 billion in a new testing center in Shenzhen, boasting its first-class testing capability nationwide. In 2013, the Shenzhen facility outperformed numerous competitors and was named “Crash Test Facility of the Year.” BYD has also built strong capabilities in simulation and engineering, creating a solid foundation for the development and testing of five-star safety technologies.

Super-Strength Bodywork Design. The vehicles’ bodywork features a cage-like design, which improves the strength of the cabin in every way possible by providing three-dimensional protection. The extensive use of the super-strength materials—including thermoformed steel plates with a resistance of 1500 MPa (accounting for 12 percent), ultra-high and high strength cold-rolled steel plates (accounting for 36 and 16 percent respectively) and a front-end module made of composite materials—enables lightweight design and significantly improves bodywork crash safety.

A maximum of 10 airbags, coupled with pre-tensioned seat belts, collapsible energy-absorbing steering column and WHIPS protective seats, provide all-round protection for driver and passengers. In the event of a crash, doors are automatically unlocked, fuel supply is cut off and high-voltage circuits are disconnected to facilitate escape and external rescue.

BYD provides a range of other safety features to help prevent accidents and minimize the probability of crashes. These features include ESP systems, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) systems, Blind Spot Detection (BSD) systems, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) systems, Lane Departure Warning (LDW) systems, Brake Override Systems (BOS), Hill Descent Control (HDC) systems, Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS), Six-sensor All-direction Parking Radar and 360-degree Panoramic View systems.
